Agriculture and Livestock

Agriculture and livestock have long been recognized as one of the oldest and largest industries. The increasing global population and limited nutritional resources have led to a growing demand for agricultural mechanization systems that are more efficient and technologically advanced.

Agriculture and Livestock

The widespread adoption of mechanization systems in agricultural activities has made it possible to perform more tasks in a given timeframe with the application of gearboxes, thus increasing efficiency. Rising labour costs and time constraints in agricultural activities have also driven the development of robust and efficient machine systems. Power take-off (PTO) shafts from tractors and electric motors are commonly used as power sources in agricultural mechanization.

High power is required for harvest and post-harvest mechanization in agriculture and horticulture, particularly for tasks such as long-distance horizontal and vertical conveyance, storage in silos, product screening, classification, and grinding. Therefore, there is a need for reliable driving systems to meet these demands. Gearboxes are the main elements of drive systems, which makes them critical for performance and durability.

Feed mixer drives are commonly used in feeding mechanisms for cattle and sheep. These systems can be designed in either horizontal, vertical, or inclined configurations, and can also be operated with tractors or in a fixed setup. Large facilities often prefer total mixed ration (TMR) systems, where different types of feed and feed additives produced on an industrial scale are conveyed from silos to feed mixing units via conveyors. After the mincing and mixing stages, the feeds are transported to distribution wagons using belt conveyors (which are again driven by gearboxes) for delivery to the animals. Livestock facilities require powerful gear unit solutions for both feeding mechanization and fertilizer stripping and separation applications to cope with varying challenges.

NRW Drive Technologies offers a comprehensive range of fixed feed preparation systems with tractor PTO and electric motor options, such as the PYK and PYK PL series, which can meet almost all the needs of livestock facilities.

The poultry industry is another significant sector within the livestock industry, with intensive production carried out in limited areas. Feeding mechanization plays a crucial role in the poultry industry, where all activities need to be carried out with sensitivity and systematicity. NRW Drive Technologies provides comfort and efficiency to the poultry industry with its PX and PPC series of mechanization systems.
